I posted a couple of quick edits in the Landscapes thread yesterday. A few more here. I live in a beautiful corner of the UK but am guilty, as I guess a lot of us are, of driving hundreds of miles to get to other bits just to see how they stack up. This was my first time in the Peak District; a quick look along Derwent Edge past some of the famous rock formations up there. I make no apologies for including both a portrait and landscape composition of the "salt cellar", I can't decide which I prefer :)

All with Sony RX10iv, all deliberately processed a little on the dark side.

Was lucky to get there with so much heather blooming, really added something to the day although generally my preference is for the moors of northern England to look as drab as they usually do.

Great photos. I love the purple flowers - is it heather?

The 2nd and last are my favorites.

Thanks for sharing.

Chris

Thanks a lot Chris, appreciate it. It is indeed heather, so characteristic of UK upland areas in August.

I just came across this youtube video that must be in the same area. I find this youtuber to be instructive.

I had a quick look before I left; will watch it more fully later because it does look good. Any UK landscape photographer should know better than waiting for the sun, though :) We just have to work around it and appreciate the flat lighting we get in return for its absence :) In these days of easily being able to control highlights and shadows, the old UK white skies that used to plague our landscape photography are becoming a thing of the past.
