I have what I'd call a traditional or standard tripod.

I have a larger lens which would need this ring to mount, and it is Arca Swiss style. Is there an adapter I can use to mount on my tripod or do I need a different one all together?

As far as I see it, you have 3 easy options, and perhaps other, more complicated options.

1. Just screw your existing QR plate into one of the threaded holes on the lens mount.
2. Buy an Arca-compatible receiver and put that on your existing QR plate then mount the lens' Arca plate on that.
3. Buy a different tripod/head that takes an Arca mount.

I'd probably go with 1 or 3 and leave the adapter out of the middle.

A head with an Arca-compatible QR plate is the nuts. You can get by with other QR systems, but if you ever use an Arca, that's the kind you'll want from then on. Keep that in mind if you ever upgrade your tripod.

The advantages of just going all Arca are too many to list. I highly recommend that course of action above any other fix.

In addition, based on a lens mounted collar, I have to assume that your kit is going to be a little on the heavy side for the head pictured. You might want to consider that as well.

Thanks for the responses everyone. Upon looking closer at the collar I see that it will work with my tripod, but as mentioned, weight will be an issue.

Also, Arca-compatible heads come in every budget. You can buy a $15 Arca head, or a $1500 Arca head, or anything in between.
