One year ago, I waited by the pond for the light to hit 'just right'. Right place, right time. Of course, that's not counting the twenty some different days I sat at the pond hoping for this light. You can see the shadow line along the bottom of the elevators, which is part of why I like this image. The sun was just about to fall away behind a hill far in the west and this light was gone in seconds.
It helps to have a person somewhere in the frame for scale when dealing with this 'Prairie Battleship' and we have a fellow fishing along the left side of the pond. Cool.
The old Equity 'Z' and 'Y' elevators. They built Z before Y because they were sure the area would not need more storage in the future. Nope.
In 1956, Y was the largest conventional grain elevator in the world.
Enid, Oklahoma, has the largest grain storage capacity in the USA and the third largest in the world. Small town, big elevators. More to come.
