Today On1 release PR 2022. Lots of new features and updates under the hood.

For Mac users, it is now Universal and does native mode Apple Silicon.

Was pretty hyped by the changes since my '19 version. Played with it for a couple hours yesterday, generally like what they've done. The export functions are vastly nicer but so detailed I'm trying to get that set-up efficiently. It is dramatically faster than '19 file exports too. Almost to many choices. LOL.

With the discount codes this is one heck of a deal. :-)

PR 2022 no longer adds plug-ins, they are a separate purchase available late October.

Yep, If you want the functions of Photo Raw as a plugin in LrC, PS, C1P or other hosts.....purchase the Plugin Bundle. If you want a standalone app....purchase Photo Raw 2022.

Anthony Morganti covered this on 9/24 that it will function as a plug-in to LR by adding it as an external editor in the preferences drop down in LR: (I cannot comment on PS or C1.)

If someone purchased PR 2022 thinking it would be a regular plugin, they might want to contact On1 and see if On1 will swap the PR license for a Plugin Bundle license.

I may not be understanding this completely. The ON1 plugins function from within ON1 rather than separate plugin. Can understand how that change in workflow would be an annoyance.

I made the mistake of not reading the upgrade notes from ON1 2021 to ON1 2022 and just assumed it was another upgrade and was therefore disappointed that the Plug Ins did not load into PS CC, as they had done in 2018, 2019, 2020 and 2021.

I have used ON1 since ON1 Perfect Photo Suite 7, as well as the Topaz and Nik Plug Ins, and had just assumed that the ON1 2022 version was just the annual upgrade. With hindsight, I can now see that ON1 did mention this decoupling on their website, but in the day to day rush of life I did not find this notice so was initially very disappointed.

When I contacted ON1 they explained the difference and were very responsive in replying to my support requests. As it happens, I had included the stand alone Plug Ins in my order upgrade to ON1 2022 so all I need do is wait until Oct.

Note to self: Read the release notes more thoroughly, although this does get tedious with all the software I run, not just photo stuff.

Cheers

Dennis

On1 is the company that makes photo apps. Their standalone all in one app is Photo Raw with the current version being 2022. Past versions could work as plugins in Lightroom, Photoshop, Capture One Pro, and others external apps.

This summer On1 started to release features that are part of Photo Raw as standalone plugins. This can be setup as plugins in other editors.

With the release of Photo Raw 2022, it can no longer be setup as a plugin towards other editors. If you want plugins towards other editors, you would purchase the Plugins individually or in a Bundle.
