Is there anybody using EF lenses with Canon mirroless?
Do you have the Canon Drop-In Filter Mount Adapter EF-EOS R with Variable ND Filter?
1. Any experience with it? Can you take out the filter and tape the filter hole and use it as a regular adapter when you don't need the nd filter?
2. They are selling third party versions? Any luck with those?

I am using the polarizer version, which should work the same way, as you can obviously turn that, something I'd expect to be the case with the variable ND version as well.

1. It looks like the filter can be fairly easily removed, just by loosening a small Phillips screw. I haven't tried that yet, however, as I do not want to damage the matt black finish of the screw head if I do not have to.
However, it is supposed to be replaceable with other filters, so It should really be possible.
As to taping the filter hole: that is not necessary, because the rotation is transferred by means of a little cog, and those parts are all sealed off from any stray light. The rotate button itself, which is part of the filter holder, is a cog, which rotates another cog inside the filter holder, which then makes the filter rotate due to the teeth on the filter rim.
In short, it should be possible to remove the filter to use it as a regular adapter, and it should not require taping.

2. No experience, I am afraid.

HTH, kind regards, Wim
