r5 r6

so as far as my non-technical eye can discern, the MAJOR differences between the two are:

45mp v 20mp
exceptional video capabilities v very very good video capabilities

is there anything else im missing?

i like the idea of more pixels (r5) but i like the idea of a lower price tag (because im hoping its video related) (r6)

i shoot mostly sports and pj stuff. id LIKE to get more into some portrait work or more technical/industrial work and ive always subscribed to more is better in most cases...

i dont see myself purchasing EITHER of these in the next 6 months but if i could wrap my head around which one i really really want, it would make my time of not having it, better. if THAT makes any sense...

i just recently helped a fellow photographer out who had a big photo shoot (multiple teams and individuals) and i shot with his r6 and that eye-focus was the absolute greatest thing since sliced bread...

The 20mp of the r6 was good enough for the 1DX III

I believe a professional photographer could have used the 1dx for your above mentioned photography
If you do landscape I'll go with the r5
For your needs the "baby 1dx" is not a compromise

Since you've got at least six months until purchase, you could rent an R5 now that you've already used an R6. If you really wanted to A/B them, you could rent both simultaneously and then there'd been no question which one was the best for your needs. Some rental places will let you buy the piece you rent and the purchase price is discounted by the rental cost and you're not paying retail since it's used gear.
