Yeah, I don't think so.

It's that first sentence of the fourth paragraph that's the turn-off...

The contract works exactly as intended. Unless you are shooting exclusively for editorial you aren't getting permission to profit from the identity of others. Put yourself in their shoes. They have the right to protect their image, identity, and livelihood.

Oh, I fully understand and appreciate that.

But they wanted full, unrestricted rights to use the photos I take in any way the deem appropriate, without compensation. That's where I have a problem.

I was faced with the same thing when shooting Wilco some years ago. Every photo they received from me was pretty much and member from the knees down.

Meanwhile, I've got two wonderful 12x18" portraits of Jeff Tweedy hanging in my office...

You have two choices, accept the agreement or don't take photographs.

That shouldn't be too hard to understand.

Do what you love and you will love what you do, that applies to both work and life.

That's a contradictory statement, none the less you don't have the rights to, nor do you represent the artists involved, as such you are obligated to play by their rules, if hat is unacceptable then just move on.

They are properties and they don't belong to you.
