I keep reading that if you get a perpetual licence you get to use the software forever. Not always. Affinity is still providing free updates, for now. Adobe provides the DNG converter so people can still use CS6 or older. DPP still has a direct link to PS. Some day, I may yet go back to DPP and use a 3d party like Affinity to finish. First Adobe has to tick me off and if they do I'll drop them in a heart beat.

Every time I take account of my little monthly payments I go through the same thoughts as many above. Cell phone, Cable TV, separate email at localnet.com that I have had since 1999, Netflix, Adobe Photoshop, Apple iCloud (plus now), Smugmug....
.

.
I am very conscious of these expenses, and am continually reevaluating them based on value received vs. dollars spent. . Every single month, before each bill is due, I ask myself if the service I am subscribing to is truly worth the dollars I will pay for it, and look to see if there may be a more cost-effective option available to me, before I commit to another month.

If I know I am not going to have much time to watch Netflix over the next month, then I cancel my subscription and join back up again a month or three later, when I have more time to watch movies.

If I am going to be away from home for more than two weeks, I call my internet provider to have them put my internet access on hold until I return home. That means I don't get billed for any of the time I am away from home and not using the internet. This saves me a good chunk of money each year, as I am typically away from home for 4 or 5 months, all told. (yes, "all told" is actually the proper term ..... "all tolled" is incorrect)

I keep searching for a better deal on my cell phone plan, but haven't been able to find anything better than what I have. . But the minute something comes along that provides fully equal service for two or three dollars less per month, you can bet I'm gonna switch!

I cancelled any type of cable / dish / direct TV service years ago. . The rates for such things are preposterously expensive. . With so much great content available online, via streaming, for so much less money, there is no way I can get enough bang for my buck with any cable / dish / direct TV plan.

Instead of cable, dish, or direct TV, I subscribe to:

- . NFL Game Pass for $80 / year

- . YouTube Premium for $10 / month

- . Netflix at $9 / month, on a month-to-month basis

That all comes to just under a $21 per month average, and gives me all of the entertainment I could ever want, both in quality and quantity. . That is less than I would pay for any cable / dish / direct TV plan that includes all NFL games.

Fortunately for me, I get Adobe CC for free because of my relationship with Adobe Stock ...... now if only I could figure out how to download the program onto my computer, I would be all set!

.

"Your" and "you're" are different words with completely different meanings - please use the correct one.
"They're", "their", and "there" are different words with completely different meanings - please use the correct one.
"Fare" and "fair" are different words with completely different meanings - please use the correct one. The proper expression is "moot point", NOT "mute point".

I'm really torn about cable. Paying for a lot of stuff I don't really want but there are many things I don't want to give up. They rip you off with the bundling packages. That being said I have no use for Crave but it comes with HBO. Again I just called them and as soon as I mentioned the CRTC (Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission) they gave me that bundle which $20 a month for free for a year. Several years ago the CRTC said that companies are supposed to offer only the programming people want to watch. People and the cable companies forgot that just as quickly as the companies started to ignore the order to stop increasing volume during commercials.

We already had Netflix but I have the 4K option so it's about $20 a month CND. I'm not a big fan of Prime but because of Covid we signed up for TV. It has a lot of good programming. I think I used Prime delivery about 3 times. I try to buy local.

I also got the Apple TV box for the Mandalorian. You can't install the Disney/Apple apps on Panasonic. We we dropped Disney after that series. Got Apple + free for a year. Not sure what I''d do about that. Apple is super expensive. My new Sony has the Disney app if so I ever feel like watching Disney again I won't use the box.

Off topic I'm stunned at how good Wifi carries the signal for Netflix, Prime and Apple. Only thing connected to the TV now is the 4K cable box. We moved into condo. I was worried about my surround sound system so we scrapped it. No way to stop that subwoofer from ticking off your neighbours. For moves and series we use these. I was a little worried at first but my wife loves them. Me too. All the dialogue is crystal clear and things go boom really good :-)

That was our year during Covid.
