i see people get quoted, they either get asked a question or respond to a post but it gets missed, especially in a fast moving thread.

is there any way to notify a member that's been quoted?

if you get quoted or "tagged", it would be great to know?

No, we do not have that here.
I have considered it, but it is not a top priority feature.

The "Latest replies" feature in FYEO goes partway toward what you ask for.

people getting notified when being "talked to" would be very handy. I would of thought it had some priority.

oh well.

I'm in same thought pattern
I often comment on other posts I don't follow and people respond. Or others respond to my post
Occasionally I completely miss their response and that makes me think I'm being ignorant so and so

This post does show in Notifications, but only if we follow the thread.
I suppose that's considered enough and reasonable.
I should just follow all threads I post to.

That said, I'm sure I've missed posts I follow and people have replied to a comment I made to them.

I wonder if there's a difference between 'Reply' and "Quote ' when posting?

When you post in a thread you do not follow, the forum asks you if you'd like to follow the thread. You can't miss it :)

You do have https://photography-on-the.net/forum/fyeo.php?show=replies

"Reply" opens reply editor blank, "Quote" quotes the replied to post. You can do "reply" and then do quotes in reply editor, or you can "quote" and erase the quote in reply editor.
It all about convenience.

Thanks Pekka
It was the "show replies" I hadn't yet discovered.

Yes I was aware of the request to follow, but one off's I normally said no,thinking that I didn't want an ever mounting number of followed threads!

My query re quote or reply was more about if it affected how/if we get notified, if any difference in that?
I mostly edit quotes to suit my reply.

It makes no difference in the "Latest replies" list.
