For several years, I have been using Synchredible to duplicate/backup my drives and I have never seen this before.

The "Backup" method was one of the same ones I have been using for ages with never seeing anything like this.

I first started to type the path into the search bar to see what it was; but then, I thought better of it and decided to seek a bit of information before I let curiosity get me in trouble.

All six files are PSD and I never use any file names resembling these.

I can click the orange bar and subsequent backups will ignore the failed files; but, I would like to know the what, where, and why.

Does anyone have any idea what they are and where they came from ?

To me it looks like you may have deleted some valid PSD files and they now reside in your Recycle Bin based on the path shown. Many software packages that I'm aware of will not make copies of something in the Recycle Bin without doing a restore to the normal location.

Thanks for the idea and help.

I keep my Recycle Bin empty; whenever I delete anything, I make certain I wanted it gone, then I clear the bin; it is a lot easier to keep track of things with an always empty Recycle Bin.

On EDIT: and I always empty the Recycle Bin immediately prior to running Synchredible.

Is it possible that I might open an unwanted can of worms if I navigate to the PSDs and see what they are ?

.psd is Photoshop Document. Check the file sizes, likely to be large. It's the default file type for Photoshop after any editing.

Thanks; I am very familiar with PSD and generate probably a hundred a day, but never with any filenames resembling those.

Your graphic identifies what is called an SID and specifically S-1-5-21-1246007047....so maybe it is some user account other than the one you typically use.

To help identify the specific user account, open an elevated command prompt and type in the command WMIC useraccount get name, sid.

You should get a list and it may comprise several accounts. On my PC I get the following list. As you can see there are five accounts; lots of similar numbers but the key (in my example) is the last four digits, 500, 501, 503, 504, and 1001, all representing separate accounts. You should try to open each account because each will present its own Recycle Bin (RB). There used to be (Win 7 & Win 8) a method of emptying the RB of all accounts. You can try the steps at https://www.intowindows.com …n-from-all-user-accounts/ (external link) to possibly clear the RB.
