I just tried the new masking functions in the newest version of Lightroom. If you haven't tried it yet, it's a real game changer. It has Adobe's AI-based select subject function and real luminosity and color masking. It has the ability to add, subtract, and intersect masks. Not up to Photoshop's capabilities, of course, but worlds better than what LR offered before. I think the fraction of my photos that get moved from LR to Photoshop will drop because of this.
