Pet 'shine-eye' fix?

My cousin just sent me a family photo he would like fixed, regarding his dog's eyes. Thoughts?? It seems I would have to paint in fake eyes. I don't know what else could be done...

Gave it a shot. Not sure how the dogs eyes look in real life.

Good looking fix...

However IMO. the best way to fix this problem is to avoid it in the first place by not using direct flash. Bouncing the flash will prevent the glowing pet eyes and also red eyes in humans. It will also provide a more natural looking image all over!
