Does anyone know why the clock run off Sync when they are both set at the same time? In Post I am seeing shots with each body not in chronological order. When I recheck the time they are usually a minute or more off. I am constantly syncing both bodies but this seems not to help. I leave the battery in the cameras as well.

How long between synchronizations? All free-running clocks have different rates, so if there is a long time between synchronizations, you'll see a difference in the clocks.

The cameras are those listed under your post? This helps us to make suggestions.

How are you synchronizing them? I have a 7D2 and an XSi. The 7D2 is set by the GPS satellites. I set the XSi by setting the time a minute ahead of what my clock reads, and exiting clock setting when that minute appears on my "master" clock, so that minute starts at the same time as my master clock (within a second or two). I do this every few days to keep the XSi reasonably close to the 7D2.

You can get an GP-E2 (Canon GPS) and plug it into the USB port on the camera. The GPS will update the camera clock. Then repeat on the other camera. Repeat every few days as needed.

Won't it be easier to sync any bodies to the same GPS-based clock, such as on your cell phone? Most camera vendors have apps that will sync date/time and upload GPS location info from phone to camera body.

OK, so I am not going crazy. Thank you, I will check the GPS but the problem with the GPS don't I have to be outdoors for it to receive Satellite signal? Yes I did not realize I should do this before an event. Thank you

You need not be outside, but in a place where you can get a good GPS signal. My house works well, I've also gotten good GPS signals in some hotels. Areas with tall buildings (NYC, Chicago, and so forth) may have poor GPS reception outside, although cell phones update their clocks from their network which uses the GPS clocks.

While we say GPS, today there are many different satellite systems in orbit: US, EU, Russia, China, Japan....etc. So good positioning systems can use the signals from all the different satellite systems it can hear. So indeed just to get a decent time/date from a positioning satellite should be very little problem. The cell network is passing on that info in the overhead messages it is sending to all attached mobile phones. But the phone can do its own positioning from all the satellite data and pass that info to the cameras. So you can both an accurate date/time and an accurate location that can go to attached camera bodies.

I just use Canon EOS Utility to set my cameras to the computer's time every couple of weeks or so. Plug the camera in, let EOS Utility start, remove the camera. It's set in the EOS Utility preferences to update the camera clock whenever it's plugged in.

I let GPS update the clock on my 7DMkII and a neat simple portable program, Canon EOS Digital Info, synchronize our T3/1100Ds and 7Ds with the computer clock.

Canon EOS Digital Info is a quick wonderful little program; alas, it has not been upgraded in quite some time and is not up to date enough to recognize my 7DMkII (which the GPS takes care of anyway)

With a whole shelf full of Canon EOS cameras, for whatever reason, I have never messed with EOS Utility; I need to check out it's abilities; besides updating the clocks, it is untelling what else I have been missing.

With all that said, surely there is a program that will synchronize the clock on the Canon "pocket" cameras, preferably a free program.

I carry a Canon S90 on my belt for those times when it is not feasible to carry a real camera and it is nigh impossible to get it set within a couple minutes of everything else, let alone right to the second.

So far as I know, there is no Canon program for these smaller cameras similar to EOS Utility.

If anyone knows of something, please let me know.
