I found it and, yes, the Focus ring can be configured into a control ring.
AF Menu / page 6 / Focus/Control Ring...3rd item down.
Nice, I was wrong it can be done sweet.

David83 Goldmember More info | Jan 27, 2022 16:12 | #363 First few shots with the RF 400. Nothing special with these shots, just chasing the kids around after work, feeling out the lens, before it got too dark. Comparing files to the EF Ver. II, there is a noticeable increase in IQ. It's not a huge leap because all the 400s are stellar, but sharpness is off the charts. It also autofocuses substantially faster and the IS is much better as well. It's a noticeable difference. I cannot wait to put this thing to real work this spring. Jan 27, 2022 16:45 | #364 Ha Ha, I know what I was doing wrong. I had the 200-400mm on the R3 and could not find anyway to get the focus ring to become the control ring so assumed it would not work. Duh put the Rf lens on and there is the menu item to turn it into the control ring flickr https://www.flickr.com/photos/robamyphotos/

David83 Goldmember More info | Jan 29, 2022 13:59 | #366 The RF 400...WHAT A LENS!! Paired with the R3 is just ridiculous. My local camera shop had a RF 2x TC so I snagged one. It's also a pretty big upgrade in IQ and AF speed. Im thoroughly impressed. Jan 29, 2022 16:25 | #367 I agree the RF 400 is awesome and the extenders make it that more versatile. It has become my favorite lens that I have used. Good Stuff. flickr https://www.flickr.com/photos/robamyphotos/

Jan 30, 2022 04:34 | #369 Some more Irish Premier League football yesterday. 2 button setup worked perfectly. The R3 is sharp straight from the crate. Shot, cropped, captioned and sent within seconds of the action happening. Absolute minimal post processing required, which is all good when you're shooting tethered and working throughout the game as it progresses. Boss was happy with the output which is all I can hope for. Image hosted by forum (1142772) © Red Dog [SHARE LINK] THIS IS A LOW QUALITY PREVIEW. Please log in to see the good quality stuff.
