Rain over the weekend flooded out a colony of ants. Not sure what actually killed them, perhaps the moisture plus the cold did them in. But as they lay motionless, I figured I'd memorialize their passing.

Kenzie's first snow

Being a sports photographer in this part of the world is rarely dull. Due to adverse freezing weather on Saturday, my first allocated football fixture was cancelled due to a frozen pitch.
My back up match was also in doubt an hour before kick off after the weather deteriorated and parts of the playing surface around one of the goalmouths began to freeze solid.
A home team supporter volunteered to bring in a gas blow torch in an attempt to thaw out the area so I decided to muck in and help. So I volunteered to help rake the surface whilst this guy basically took a flame thrower to the frozen soil.
Thankfully after half an hours heating and raking, the goalmouth softened up just enough and the referee and players were satisfied that the surface was safe and playable.
Mind you it was a very cold sit at the side of the pitch for me for the next 2 hours as the temperature hovered around freezing point and below.
Still, good to get a game under the belt despite the conditions and it just goes to prove the old adage, where there's a will there's a way.

Had some luck with dense fog and a sunrise a few weeks ago..

Rob, is the RF85 1.2 + R3 fast enough for action shots like that? I have an eye on that lens for quite a while now..
