I have no problem viewing RAW files of any flavor with FastStone.

However, sometimes it would be nice if some of my other programs would display the thumbnail for RAW files.

I have found countless sources for a Canon RAW codec --- ONLY for 32-bit Windows.

When I thought I had found what I need for 64-bit Windows, I get this:

https://www.usa.canon.com …/canon-raw-codec-software (external link)

The little square box says that the only way to get this now is as a plug-in in DPP

I have various versions of DPP installed and no help in viewing RAW thumbnails in Windows that I can see.

Does anyone know of a FREE codec that will allow display of RAW thumbnails in plain old Windows 64-bit ?

Are you asking about viewing within certain programs or, for example, windows file explorer? I have no problems seeing raw thumbnails in file explorer or viewing them in the old windows photo viewer, which is not readily available in windows 10, but can be with some registry changes.

This CODEC from Microsoft does not differentiate between 32-bit vs. 64-bit versions of Windows 10

And I see that for newer Canon cameras, the CODEC is supported in 32-bit, but not 64-bit Win 7 or Win 8
