Seems some features are no longer being serviced on the site. Specifically, the gear browser seems to be abandoned. There are a lot of new RF lenses that have been out for a while that have not been added. It's a bit frustrating when posting photos and the lens cannot be selected for the metadata. That's all, thanks!

Hey, Bob

I've been thinking the same thing. . There are still a good number of members on here, discussing gear and photography. . But it seems that the administrative stuff just isn't being maintained.

Seems to me it would only take a couple hours per month to add new lens and body models. . And only about an hour every 6 months to rewrite the sub-forum titles, such as changing:

"Canon EF and EF-S Lenses"

to

"Canon RF, EF, and EF-S Lenses"

I mean, opening up the code, adding an R, and F, and a comma, and saving the change can't take more than a minute or two, right? . And yet for whatever reason, this isn't being done.

I think there are probably a half dozen of us who would be glad to make these updates, if we were given the ability to get in and do edits.

I do not mean to find fault with Pekka - I am sure that he has reasons why these little updates are not being done, and I am sure that his reasons are valid ones. . He's always been a real quality guy, and I have always respected and liked him. . But even if he cannot find the time to do these things, I am sure there are others who would, if they were empowered to do so.

.

"Fare" and "fair" are different words with completely different meanings - please use the correct one. The proper expression is "moot point", NOT "mute point".

with much of the world in the state that it's in, I'd have thought that missing exif data would be the least of most folks' problems.

some fairly old canon camera stuff, canon lenses, Manfrotto "thingy", and an M5, also an M6 that has had a 720nm filter bolted onto the sensor:
TF posting: here :-)

With many people spending more time at home online, I would think that things like missing EXIF data would actually be even more important to them than it was previously, because surfing the internet and spending time on forums like this one are a bigger part of people's lives than it used to be, simply because they have more time for it.

Sorry about that. I have worked a lot in my real profession and doing some other important stuff that I can not put aside.

Can you make a list of most important cameras and lenses that are missing, please? That would make my work a lot easier and faster.

Thanks for the response. Here's a quick list of the things I see that need to be added. I'm sure there are some things others would like as well.

-RF14-35mm F4 L IS USM
-RF100mm F2.8 L MACRO IS USM
-RF400mm F2.8 L IS USM
-RF16mm F2.8 STM
-RF100-400mm F5.6-8 IS USM
-RF5.2mm F2.8 L Dual Fisheye

Thanks, Bob

In addition to the list below, any chance we can have the Sony ZV-1 added to the compact cameras list? It's essentially an RX100VII but with a faster lens and much improved Real-time AF system (same as the Sony Alpha A9ii)

-RF14-35mm F4 L IS USM
-RF100mm F2.8 L MACRO IS USM
-RF400mm F2.8 L IS USM
-RF16mm F2.8 STM
-RF100-400mm F5.6-8 IS USM
-RF5.2mm F2.8 L Dual Fisheye
