We are thinking about trying to get our work submitted in competitions for general exposure. Anyone have any suggestions? We are based in the UK, would appreciate some UK magazines/competitions relating to family photography.

Who is "we" and what is your speciality/Genre? It makes a HUGE difference. Hard to answer not knowing those things.

Here's a website that may be of interest to you, and help you find contests in your region and in your genre:

"We" refers to Adam and Kush! . You can find that, and other pertinent info, on the website that they have in their signature link.

https://weshootyou.co.uk/who-we-are (external link)

The info on their "about" page (posted above) tells you who they are, and other pages on their website show the kind of genre(s) that they shoot.

.

"Your" and "you're" are different words with completely different meanings - please use the correct one.
"They're", "their", and "there" are different words with completely different meanings - please use the correct one.
"Fare" and "fair" are different words with completely different meanings - please use the correct one. The proper expression is "moot point", NOT "mute point".

Hey Tom, thanks for answering the question above.

I appreciate the link to the photocontest site. Looks very useful :-) On a glance, it's quite extensive.

Interesting.... last night it would not every resolve and I gave up. Today it is opening, but none of the pictures are coming through. I'll try another browser and see if that is the issue.

Back to the topic, the UK has lots of clubs the sponsor photo contest as well. Ameteur Photographer runs a list of all the bigger contest each year, https://www.amateurphotographer.co.uk …ompetitions-to-enter-2605 (external link). I didn't see anything that ran right up your genre.. but its good to be aware. And then for practice, there is always things like dpreview.com's contest they run perpetually. The problem I don't like about them is that they usually don't provide feedback. With out that its hard to tell on what to work on getting better at.

Then there is also the local art fairs. In the States they have county local fairs that are good to join - from the local, county and state fairs. Whats great about them is you usually get to submit prints at much larger sizes which often really makes a difference.

Lots can found just searching online. Better really depends. The bigger ones can be overwhelming. And check the fine print to what entering does to you coywrite. Submit, enjoy and learn. It usually hurts nothing. Let us know if you enter anything.

Thanks for taking the time to write this.

I agree with the biggger ones, especially with the cost of entering some of these. I was thinking with smaller scale stuff in the begining, like local fairs. I'll try look throughout the year, but this is a great starting spot.

We are looking to improve in general, alas no one is perfect. So I'll frequently share photographs for some good feedback.

Thanks for the support.
