I had seen her flying in the distance so I just sat and hoped she would come back towards me. She eventually did and put on a display for me. I was very lucky. The subdued colors all work well and the various yellows all complement each other. Very cool. All birds photographed in the wild.

In this case, I had to drive about 5 hours to southeastern Arizona to get this hummer. As far as my own location (Scottsdale), I have only photographed the Anna's and a couple of Costa's over the years. Southeastern Arizona is a noted area for a wide variety of hummingbirds as well as a large assortment of other birds. If you're ever out that way, you should plan on spending a few days.
