I look forward to the return of our koel (E. orientalis) in September, heralding the beginning of our rainy season.

Still waiting for the wisdom they promised would be worth getting old for.

Thank you very much, Dennis. This Great Egret is dropping in to his rookery. It's odd, because this is the only Great Egret that resides here. All the many other egrets are both Cattle and Snowy Egrets.

Seems like this guy is going for anything edible except fish.

An airshow!

Ha, I was thinking the same thing, RAL.

Only one month left until the return of your koels!

In Singapore, house crows are their (Asian Koels) surrogate parents. I'm curious, do you happen to know who takes up the role of raising the adorable E. orientalis in your area?

Yes! Looking forward to it! But it will also mean it gets hot.vmad In the Northern Territory's Top End, sometimes E. orientalis' surrogate parents are Torresian Crows but more commonly smaller birds like figbirds, friarbirds, peewees and the larger honeyeaters (such as blue-faced).

Still waiting for the wisdom they promised would be worth getting old for.

This flight shot of the Limpkin is very cool looking, Kirk! I really like it.

Thanks, Mike.
