Thanks Mike. From what I read it could be 3 or 4 years before they fully mature.
I'll find another couple photos and put them up. They seem to change each year for first 2 years before turning white.
I'm a bit confused as https://ebird.org/spec​ies/pacgul1 (external link) mentions development as juvenile, first year, second year, 4 plus years.

They are huge against an ordinary seagull.
It was a very dull day and the sea was churned up, the sky sullen with very little colour in anything.

Thanks Mike! It does feel like that at times, and it all happens in a flurry of button presses and panic and then he's gone! Sometimes there is something decent at the end though, cheers! :)
