Weird issue. Original battery had two red bars in battery health about 1 or so years ago. Always worked fine otherwise. Haven't shot consistently in a couple years. Charged that battery put it in the camera and left my tamron 70-300vc on it. Dead many months later. Charged it for Christmas. Shot 200 exposures and had 95% left. Noticed that this battery now had 3 green bars. Put it away, checked a couple days later and it was at 90%. Checked today, 11 days after Christmas and it was dead. I had a nos canon battery in the box and charged it, put it in the camera and keeping my fingers crossed. First off how long do your batteries last while in your camera off? I always remember mine lasting very long and never dying out like that. Camera has never been dropped abused etc and has always been used with white glove treatment and kept in the bag. What do you think? Problem with the new battery is it's on its initial charge. I also just bought some new wasabi batteries that should be here soon. I'm really hoping it's not the body as this thing has only about 9000 shots on it.

My T3l's battery will last for close to a year with the camera just in the bag unused.
My 7D2 will run down the battery in 5 or 6 months without use.
The big difference is the T3i probably has a button battery for the clock while the 7D2 has a capicator that feeds off the main battery. My T3i battery is the original and has probably been charged over 20 times. Since it is close to 10 years old I can't complain.

As you have wasabi's on the way I wouldn't worry about it. Just be sure you have a charged battery around. I have wasabi batteries for my 7D2 as a back-up. Too many times I've pulled the camera out only to find a near dead battery.

I had a nos battery in the package. Canon lol-e6n from 2.5 years ago. Never used. Charged it up. Fooled around with the menu for 20 minutes and put it in the bag this morning. Took about 15 shots. Had 97% took out just now at 93%.
Have a tamron 17-50 mounted. Last time I noticed had a tamron 70-300 VC. I just hope the body isn't bad with only 8500 clicks. I've never heard of this before. I have new wasabi batteries coming. Do the new batteries need to go through a couple cycles to get up to speed?

Just cleaned the contacts m the charger that is kept in a ziplock back and not dirty. When I took it out of the camera it said 92%. Been charging for over a half hour already.

Edit. Don't think that's it. Recharged the other batteries of mine at 100 and they charged up in 10 seconds. But I would say 40 minutes to go from 92-100% on the new canon battery is a long time. I took the lens off and put it in at 100% could the sd card be causing issue?

As in a break-in period. Some say yes and some say no. I'm still on the originals in both cameras so can't confirm either way. With this in mind I should charge up the wasabi I have.

Starting to fear something may be wrong with the body. Hoping taking the lens off etc stops it. Too many variables
Right now. Old batteries, new batteries, 3rd party lenses etc.
