In Berlin, one can discover a smorgasbord of architectural styles. During the GDR era, in addition to the countless prefabricated slab buildings, some striking buildings of socialist modernism were also built, such as today's Czech Embassy, which opened in 1979.
The building, designed by the architects Věra and Vladimír Machonin, is also classified as Brutalist. Whereby the term Brutalism refers to the use of raw concrete. Well, it also looks a bit brutal.

With a floor area of 48 x 48 metres, it is a mighty building.

The upper floors protrude above the basement, which gives the building some lightness.
