I resized this one, and did save as instead of save for web. And it was still to big so I went back and saved for web and it was ok. Saved it @ quality 10. Is there still lots of artifacts?? I am totally winging it here so please be patient with me.This is confusing:confused: . Thanks

The background blurring is odd... Did you Photoshop it or is it natural DOF from the lens?

You did a nice job of isolating the main subject. The lighting, color balance and exposure are all excellent.

I might quibble about the composition having a bit too much out-of-focus space, but you can always crop it down a bit into a portrait mode if you wanted to.

Very nice!

Hey BG,

When you "resized" it the first time, you used Image=>resize=>Image Size command I guess? If so, did you set the resolution to 72 pixes/inch AND had " "Constrain Size" and "Proportions" ticked? Then up the top of the window, did you set the new size to 750 pixels or thereabouts?

It is really not necessary to pay attention to DPI in this situation. Resizing is an issue in which the total pixel count in each direction is all that matters. The DPI and size in physical units are academic. The size of the file in bytes and the size of the image on the screen are independent of DPI.

BG,
I can't remember, are you using PS CS2 or a version of PSE? I have started saving my images in CS2 for web in image ready. I found a tutorial, here. I used it to be able to save as jpeg from RAW, but keep the EXIF in the pic, but I find it very easy, and decent quality is still retained. Plus it will show you what file size is while moving the quality slider. For instance all of my pics in here are done this way. My resizing takes effect during the framing script but could be done with Image > Image Size instead.

Gotcha. Then I am afraid I can't help with the saving or processing part. I barely know anything about CS2.:)

Don't be in too big of a hurry to spend a lot of money to get PSCS2. Of course, it is a good product, but it is also tremendous amount of different functions, and it will updated again no later than late 2007. You have plenty of room to grow with PSE 3 and everything you learn in PSE 3 will be very transferable to whatever version of PS is in use when you get ready for the upgrade.

THANKS Bob, this forum does make me want IT ALL NOW. But your right, patience is key.I do have a ways to go with PSE. I'm reading a book on it and i'm very interested in the layers. My husband used to do computer graphics so he is always a big help with it.
Best Regards,
Jenny

Yes the background blur does look odd. I'd also have made it a vertical shot and much tighter. The entire right side adds nothing to this shot.

Hi Hellashot, Thanks for the comments. When I saw this tulip it was all alone, growing under a big pine tree. IMHO, The space around it showed how alone it was, and maybe it's determination to grow in an unusual place. Anyway thats the story.

Hi Jillybean, I agree the out of focus stuff does bug your eyes. But thanks for the nice words.
