My son has been taking photos with his iPhone recently. Doing some nice stuff, too. Today he called me to get suggestions for, as he called it, "a real camera". He had around $1500 to spend. In the end, we went to Adorama. I've used them to buy quite a bit of used gear, and have never had a single problem. If anything they under-grade their used gear. If it says it's Excellent, it's actually E+, etc.

He ordered a low shutter count 80D in E+ condition, and a 24-105mm f4L IS II in E+ condition. It should serve him well for the sort of thing he shoots, and he kept it under $1500

Good camera and lens set-up. It should serve him well. What sort of photographs does he take, Landscapes perhaps? Looking forward to seeing some of his work.

I see you live in central Arizona. . What a great place for sundry kinds of outdoor and landscape photography! . Your son has a lot to be excited about as a budding outdoor photographer in Arizona.

I spent a month in your state last year - and I can't wait to come back. . Love it down there!

He's in California, and that was in Florida.

Whoops! . I shouldn't have assumed he lived in the same state as you do.

But California is also an awesome state for outdoor & nature photography. . In fact, I just got back from a Cali photo trip myself. . He should have abundant opportunities available to him.
