Your scan 003-a looks like it could be the rebuilding after a fire.
The wall looks scorched and it looks like there are ashes within a foundation.

Yes I am getting to be an OLDer man, but did you really need to tell me twice?? That image is interesting as it has two front porches which makes me think it was built to have two homes in it. Not sure how that stack of milled timber would survive such though? My thoughts! Scan 002-a Is that a pile driver? That area below and adjacent to the road has been excavated leaving a deep or high vertical cut To the left is a shored up area and to the left of that again is a finished retaining wall Looks like they're building another retaining wall on right. Then they'd build shops, houses with main floor at street level. That's my 2 bobs worth. What's those three men doing at bottom of photo? The one with coat off looks like he could be knapping stones? Really interesting Charles. Certainly lots of unkowns! In red is all that I can answer, yes it is very interesting Richard!! LOL!!! Charles

Feb 01, 2022 16:00 | #177 These are just so cool. These are the types of things I dream of finding in a box every time I go to a flea market. I've recently volunteered my photography/scanning abilities to our local historical society just for a chance of seeing some historic photos. A woman near me just renovated a 140-year-old house for a B&B. She bought dozens of old photos and placed them all in one of the larger rooms. She calls it the "Room Full of Strangers".
