Notice that the church (28-A) is in the background of both the feed barn shots. I'm amused at the flags placed behind the horse's ears in the July 4th (?) photo.

Is that the photographer's front walk (048-D) and sidewalks in the freshly well-manicured shoveled sidewalks? Someone was proud of their hard work.

Do you know where that church (28-A) was located?

Good stuff here. Fun to peruse through.

Your third photo looks like a picture of a photographer taking the picture of another photographer.

Do me a favor and look for the filename on the photograph you are referring to.

The third photograph in the first set I put in tonight is the bicycle riding couple (scan-39), the third photograph in the 2nd set is of a small lake (scan 53), nothing to do with another photographer that I can see.

I am sure glad the Flickr shows the filenames of each photograph!!!

Wonderful snapshot of a past era

Scan 040-d
What sort/style of dingy are these? Unique to an area or general run of mill of that time? Interesting ones.

Just to be sure I got the word right, I Googled "dingy" which came up with a definition of "gloomy and drab" woops wrong word
Then lower Google said about dingy "sometimes confused with "dinghy" Bingo! a small boat for recreation!

To answer your question, I have no idea what kind of dinghy that is! Sorry Richard

Bloch Bros
That's a huge advertising wall
What's the 'Mail pouch' refer to
Might have found my answer. I gather Bloch Bros is synonymous with tobacco so Mail Pouch!

Again, very nice series Charles

Yep!!

Glad you are still enjoying these photos!!

You did not get to read this as I did not think if adding this info until after reading this post of yours. All of the photos from here on out I have no idea where these were taken. I was not able to be with Albert when he took these shots!! <grin>

I am glad you are also enjoying these photographs David!

The third photo This child is referring to is that showing the small lake. At the far end of the lake is a man and what appears to be a tripod with a bellows camera on it. That's why he asked about another photographer.

Still waiting for the wisdom they promised would be worth getting old for.

Awesome stuff! Always wanted to do a photo project of all the old advertising that was painted directly on the sides of buildings. There still out there if you look. As already noted, there is another photographer on the other side of the lake. Also, in the picture with the 2 on the bikes (very cool), is that a man up ahead on the left? The horse & slay reminds me of a family photo we've been looking for. It has my grandfather & great-grandfather behind a team of Belgian horses, they are pulling a plow through the neighborhood plowing all the snow off the streets before there were plows to do it. Will have to take a closer look at these when I get home from work.

Here in the US, "CHEW MAIL POUCH TOBACCO", was written on many, many barns. The company saw it as good advertising & the farmers got a free, fresh coat of paint.

Thank you Pippan, Scan 053-e does show a man on the other side of the lake which I had seen before, but I did not see there might be a camera on a tripod with him maybe 3-4 feet away from that man. Now I do see that tripod!!

So yes it does look now that he was taking a photograph of another photographer. Did Albert see that man across the lake then?

That we will never know for sure.

I have seen the possibility of a man standing up past the two riders on bicycles. Is that a man really standing there??? Your guess is as good as mine!

Can you possibly scan your photo of your grandfather and great-grandfather and post it here for everyone to see if and when you find it? That would be awesome if you can do that!!

A house probably in Albion. The rest of the pictures I do not know for sure where these were taken.
Probably in the Albion area but that is just a guess.

Wonderful photos, thanks for sharing.
I'm guessing now, but I think some of these homes are still standing and being used today. Maybe restored over the years.

I am also sure that they are most all still in use today. We do not go to Albion anymore since her parents have passed away.

Frank thank you for your very kind comments!
