If the negative material isn't brittle, you might consider sandwiching the negative material
between two pieces of glass.
Using tape around the edges would cause you to loose some of the picture,
but that would be better than a total loss.

The one negative I found for the picture to show here the peeling of the film, the negative material does not LOOK brittle so that could be worth looking into someday.

I just looked thru all the images, out of the 200 or so images I only found 17 with peeling problems. Not as many as I thought I would have!

This is an interesting photo. I notice the tree have wooden guards around them to protect from cattle. There is also a bridge or pathway leading out to the left of the photo. I know there are passenger cars in this photo but I bet livestock were loaded or unloaded at this station perhaps on other trains. These last photos you posted are such a interesting look at what life was like so many years ago. The deeper you look the more you find in these images. So cool!

Thank you for your input here Dave! I am glad you are still enjoying these photos.

I probably have 40-50 more to show everyone before this will end, so several more days yet!!

I had noticed the rails in this phot are not looking their best, I would think in this time period there could have been easily some de-railing of the train real easily!

Charles I'd imagine yes, that balloon.

There's some beauties in this last lot, and varied too.
This really is a priceless collection.
Even if you don't know what or where, they are a snapshot of that era and reveal much

A balloon was my first thought, considering the time in history. Albert seems an adventurous sort. Or a balloonist could have taken the camera up to make a shot for him.

Thank you Richard!

I was not sure a hot air balloon would be stable enough depending on how windy it was on THAT day!

Were you thinking a hot air balloon before you saw the picture of the balloon next?

Yes. I thought all these pictures were too early for Orville and Wilbur or at least too early for people in general to use their invention.

I looked up Orville and Wilbur's first flight... 1903 BUT it would have been several years later before there were other planes manufactured for other people to start flying planes.

Thank you also OhLook!!

Another great set. I've struggled hauling my modern gear out to do landscapes & waterfalls, could not imagine doing it all with this gear.

Charles, have you tried to find locations for any shots after the historic Florida fort? The aerial photo has small islands, and the long buildings in lower left could be related to industry, agriculture, or fishing. Then the racially mixed crowd in the balloon photo shows that even as early as about 1900, in that location, blacks and whites seemed comfortable standing close together. Possibly the Louisiana coast?
