You added this text while I was typing my response to you.

I disagree what you think about adding windows, they have the same number of windows before and after on the left side of the house.

Yes the tree was obstructing the view for sure.

Now I take a closer look at the older home and newer home, in the middle section that looks like maybe it was moved out from where it used to be. New windows there perhaps? The older center view is darkened so much very hard to tell.

Hmmmm. I just did a deep dive in zoomed Street view, at high res., from various vantage points and also looked it up on Zillow. Zillow proved worthless, unless I want to know current taxes and where the schools were. I was hoping to see recent sale photos from different viewpoints that Street View doesn't offer. I was wrong about the roof being raised or windowlets upstairs. The below-roof bracket ornamentations are in the same exact place relative to the window lintels on the second floor, proving the same height. Looks more like an owner added white wooden cladding (and done ugly! Aaargh!) just under the roofline at some time in the past. That house has had many updates.

Speaking of the sill brackets, they look to be the same design on both those old houses (the white one), don't they? And the white old house has that same wooden cladding between the brackets too. Perhaps the same architect or builder?

The big tree in the Google photo looks to be in almost the same spot as the telephone pole in the B&W.

I still believe the roof is higher now than it was originally, but that is my opinion.

Sill brackets? Sorry David I do not know what a sill bracket is. I even googled sill bracket (external link) it but that was no help either.

The 2 pictures were not taken from the exact same angle to the house. I agree it looks like they could be in the same location, but in my tool & die years I worked a lot with angles and that could make a big difference in the location of the telephone pole vs. the tree.

I just did one better... I went back to Google Street view and changed my angle of view a bit. The telephone pole is no longer there at all, so yes OhLook you could very well be right. The tree might be close to the same location the telephone used to be.

Angle of view can make a big difference. What I couldn't compensate for was that both the pole and the new big tree are very close to the edge of the property. But I assume the edge didn't move. That may not be true. When the sidewalk was installed, it may not have gone where the old unpaved street stopped.

Continuing on with pictures from Albion.

This corner store was owned by my wife's Great Grandfather J.D. Black, (Jefferson Davis Black), the father to Albert and Harry.
The store was a typical store back in the 1800's carrying everything from wheat, sugar, clothing, guns and whatever else they carried.
There was some kind of event going on in Albion when this picture was taken by Albert.

Here is a view of what the store looks like today with comparison beside it. I have noticed around the top of the building sometime in the years past they took the top "trim" off the top. It looked better with it on, but there must have been a structural reason to remove it.

Here is my wife (right side) with her sister pointing at the "Black" name on the building above the door!!

2 Night time photos of the building during the same event in Albion.
Hard to read but what the sign on the side of building reads is 'J.D. Black & Sons'

IMAGE LINK: https://flic.kr/p/2mZxSUS (external link) Albion 16 Scan 032-d (external link) by inspeqtor (external link), on Flickr

This is the only inside photo I have of the store.

That was all the photos I have of the store in Albion. During my wife's early years, J.D. Black was no longer around but the store was being run by Albert and his brother Harry. Harry also had his farm he was running at the same time!

Here is a picture of the Courthouse in Albion.

This is nowhere near the coolness level of the images you're posting here, but you might find this thread interesting.

I thoroughly enjoyed your thread as much as this one. Capturing those little moments in history and then revisiting them is one of the best things about photography.
