I’ve had all 5d series minus the 5ds, and the 6d imo is better than the 6dii (which is close to the 5d3), the 6d IQ and noise is close to the 5d4.

In fact the 6d dynamic range beats all 5d series except the 5d4, and beats the 6d2.

Funny you mention the original 6D and the 5D Mark 4. . They are two of the three cameras that I currently use. . Often times during a day of photographing wildlife, I'll take a few hundred shots with my 5D4 and a few dozen shots with my 6D. . So I have a good deal of recent (current) real world use by which to compare the two.

Of course the 5D4 is a more capable overall camera.

Build quality is an extremely important spec to consider when choosing a camera; in many cases, for many of us, it is more important than image quality. . And after a couple years of dishing out normal abuse in harsh outdoor conditions, the 5D series simply holds up better and doesn't have to make as many trips to the repair house. . It withstands sand, rain, and getting physically banged around a LOT better than the 6D.

Also, the autofocus is significantly better with the 5D4. . It can pick up erratically moving subjects, such as birds in flight at close range, much more quickly than the 6D. . And it has far more focus points to work with, so that one can shoot a lot of compositions where the subject is off center, and still depend on fairly reliable AI tracking focus when the subject is moving around quickly.

Frames per second is where the 6D does suffer, and for action photography such as sports action, running animals, and birds in flight, most of us would prefer the much faster 5D series.

But when it comes to image quality, Cary, you are right - the 6D is pretty close to the 5D4. . Of course the 6D doesn't have as many pixels for extreme resolution of very fine detail, but not all photos require or benefit from the extra resolution that the 5D4 offers. . And the 6D files are great inasmuch as color depth, noise characteristics, and dynamic range are concerned. . When I say "great", I mean relative to the price at which the 6D can be had these days.

Of course the 5D4 is costs 3 times more than the 6D, and for that reason is not even being considered by the OP. . I know that. . I just compared the two models because I felt like doing so, not because I thought it would be a useful comparison for the OP. . But some of the comparison I did applies to the other 5D models - the 5D2 and 5D3 - that are closer to being within the OP's price range, so maybe my little comparison is a bit useful after all.

.

"Your" and "you're" are different words with completely different meanings - please use the correct one.
"They're", "their", and "there" are different words with completely different meanings - please use the correct one.
"Fare" and "fair" are different words with completely different meanings - please use the correct one. The proper expression is "moot point", NOT "mute point".

couldn't agree more.
I love to keep my 6D along with my 5D3 as an back up camera. Also 6D files do not consume much space of my sd card, easy to load without glitching … Cant say it replace all the benefits from the 5D series such as fast tracking object, multiple focus points, … . But its user-friendly, less buttons to confuse yourself lolz

Check carefully th 50mm that you acquire as part of the deal. If for instance it is the EF 50mm f/1.8 STM then you may want to keep it and get rid of your older lens. The STM is incredibly sharp and also has a metal mount.

I checked the lens and it is the 1.8 STM with the metal mount. The 50mm I have is the all plastic one. So I will be selling off the older one. Thankyou for the tip

I have a Canon 5D MK III lightly used for personal use, have a number of lens that could go with this starting with the 24-105 f4 L lens. I have a grip for it that was never used, extra batteries, several flashes, etc., to make this a package deal as necessary.

Let me know if you wish to discuss, if not, I'll be listing some time in the near future.

Robert
