Amazing how lightweight these lenses are.
1200mm only 7.4 lbs.

If you go to YouTube.com (external link) and search for "canon rf 1200" then you will find several video reviews of the RF 800 f/5.6 and the RF 1200 f/8.

If you think that the lenses are expensive, take a look at the cost of the accessories:

Lens soft case LS600 - $680.00
Lens hood ET-155 (WIII) $1100.00
Lens cap E-180E $130.00
Lens cap E-185C $150.00

I love my hobby, but I don't love it $17,000. Ridiculous.

Ridiculous? Maybe you should buy two. Techradar (external link) reported that the old EF 1200mm was sold in Germany for $580,000 / £417,000. That's not a bad return for a lens with an MSRP of $90k.

RF 600 F4 + 2x TC = $13,600...effectively making it a 1200mm. Wouldn't that be more cost effective? Not to mention more versatile?

I have no interest in these lenses. I'm waiting for the RF 500 f4 with built-in 1.4x extender.

I like to dream big. ;-)a

And weighed 35 LBS!

Here is a fun article about the old EF 1200 f5.6 https://www.bhphotovideo.com …dary-canon-ef-1200mm-lens (external link)

Depends on your needs, 800mm f5.6 + 1.4x = 1120mm f8 or 2x = 1600mm f11. To me already owning the RF 400 and RF 600 the 800mm has less over lap and is better paired with the 400mm IMO. Personally the 1200mm is cool but not as useful always starting at 1200mm f8, but to be able to get out to 2400mm would be fun to try. I used the 800mm f5.6 for almost 9 years, it was my favorite back then. As many know I love the RF 400mm so this 800mm should be awesome. This 800mm give much better MFD vs the 600mm and it is 2.5 inches shorter than the 600mm + 1.4x which will be better for handholding. The RF 600mm is longer than the EF version so some bags the RF is a tight fit. The RF 800mm is 1.5 inches shorter which is better for travel. The 1200mm is long for most bags.

I am looking forward to it myself. Funny how price matters when the subject does not peak someones interest.
