I managed a night under dark skies last night so I decided to re-visit M51 again. The last time I shot M51 was with my ED127 and 1600mm camera.
This time is with the ED152 and 2600mm.
Chroma RGB filters. Seeing wasn't that great so the stars are a bit bloated. I also only managed 2 hours of each filter, Red, Green & Blue so I wasn't very selective on frames and just stacked them all. My plan is to get even more RGB data on future visits along with some Ha data to add to this beginning.
Lots of tiny faint galaxies in this frame along with M51.
This was a quick 30 minute processing job. I'm not going to do anything further with it till I have more data.

Added a couple of hours of Ha data and a slightly different re-process of the same data.

I’m not sure how I missed your first post? I like both captures but the last one is favorite. Seems sharper with more detail along with color. M51 has always been a favorite of mine.
Beautiful capture! Looks like you’re enjoying the new camera/scope. :-)

Cool. Do you have to paint the colors in with photoshop?

I'm not using Photoshop. I use an astronomical image editing program called PixInsight. It's a process for adding the Ha data...
