I think this thread is a great idea and don't know why more people haven't joined in.

Another result, in addition to the flowering of street art, was an increase in informal outdoor events, such as block parties. Neighbors of mine created a musical afternoon, July 18, 2021, by collecting several donated pianos and getting permission to clear the street.

This boy played amazingly well. He even looked like a classical pianist.

And this boy had lots of fun.

I'm glad to participate in this look back over the last couple of years in my photography. Thanks to everyone for sharing your work.

I did a number of projects but this was the biggest.

In May of 2020 there were a number of photographers around the country doing "porch portraits" showing how people were dealing with the lockdowns. I got in on the action and photographed people from two groups I worked with before Covid for a project I called "Coping with Covid". The groups included a local hiking group and staff members of our local theatre company, the Oregon Shakespeare Festival.

It was a good project to distract me and those I photographed. I spent about five days shooting and a couple selecting and processing the photos. Some of my subjects who were new to our community, here to act in plays, didn't have a lot of local friends to communicate with and I think our brief meetings were good for sharing our thoughts and frustrations with the situation.

They all volunteered for the project and prepared for their portraits in various ways, and some (mostly the actors) put a lot of effort in their setting, props and costumes. All of the portraits were taken at or near the front door of their homes.

Here are a few of the portraits. You can see the entire collection, including captions, HERE (external link) if you are so inclined.

Two iconic Daytona Beach biker bars: Boot Hill Saloon and Main Street Station. On any given, random night there'd be people here. They were forced to close because of Covid.

It was pretty eerie...
