Local club match, I was down there for business and some of my friends invited me along to the match. Really an excellent match with some great stages, I wish I had photos that showed it off better.

1. SIG P226ST ejecting a .40-cal shell ...

2. Muzzle blast from a S&W Performance Center gun ...

IMAGE: http://greent.com/photos/potn/gaipsc/muzzleblast.jpg

3. Limited gun cycling a third round during a speed shoot.

IMAGE: http://greent.com/photos/potn/gaipsc/limitedgun.jpg

4. Speed reload ... see the ejected magazine in the air? The background was horrible!

IMAGE: http://greent.com/photos/potn/gaipsc/reload.jpg

5. The Smith Performance Center gun again, can you tell how fast he's shooting to have the brass so close together?

IMAGE: http://greent.com/photos/potn/gaipsc/smithinaction.jpg

6. And finally, the SIG P226ST close up ... 1/800 exposure wasn't fast enough to stop the slide (f/8, ISO400).

Great Shots. The pictures are good too. :)

I carry a Ruger P94 .40. But am looking for something a little easier to conceal. Maybe a small frame glock.

Go for it ! I always carry a G26 and now it seems lighter than my cellphone, if properly carried (I use IWB between 3 and 4 clock). And with 11 rounds (10+1 in the pipe) its enough for every situation that is not a civil war (but in that case I have other stuff that I can carry along :D)

In fairness, with a good holster and belt, carrying IWB will work for almost any size gun. I carry a SIG P220, which is about twice the size of a baby Glock, and it's perfectly comfortable on long drives, sitting at a restaurant table, etc. A lot of people dislike the fact that they cannot get all of their fingers around the grip of the baby Glocks, instead having to shoot with the famous "dangling pinky."

If you really want a small, lightweight, reliable gun for CCW I'd recommend a j-frame in a pocket holster.

Stay safe ...

Great Shots!!! I love seeing the muzzle flash (especially in daylight). For me it's a Glock 19 and a Canon 20D!!

Yeah, you know what they say the rule of 4s. 4 seconds, 4 feet and 4 shots and its over.

I am not much on revolvers, but will look at the j-frame S&W next time I stop by the gun shop.

Thanks.

Look at all that L glass, cool shots. I like the one with like 2-3 ejected rounds in the air.

Thanks! All the shots were taken with the 70-200/2.8 IS ... everything else stayed in the car.

Stay safe!

Question: Pic 4, Does the magazine still have at least one round in it? It appears to.

John -- Yes. This a a common technique in IPSC (and outlawed in the similar sport of IDPA). Whether or not it is a valid "real world" technique depends completely on who you ask, and is probably far outside the scope of POTN. Though it's a subject I can debate for hours on end if asked. :)

Stay safe ...

Yeah, leaving one in the chamber keeps you from having to rack the slide or press the release button. Most people agree that when firing quickly, it takes less time to fire one shot than it does to rack the slide after it's been locked back by an empty magazine.
