I used to have a 1200d and used Canon's Digital Photo Professional (basic model, version 3.15). I switched to a Canon 80d and now the Digital Photo Professional cant read my photos (the digital Photo Professional 4 works). I like using the basic software to do quick edits. What do i need to do to use this software with the 80d?
I pretty much never use DPP, so keep that in mind as you read.
The 1200D used a Digic 4 sensor. The 80D has a Digic 6 sensor - itself a couple of generations old. This significantly changes the format of the raw files produced. Any post-processing software, including DPP, needs to be able to handle any newly-released file formats. The latest revision to DPP (version 4.16) was done to handle EOS R5 files.
Any version 3 releases probably won't work on most later-model cameras. Download the latest version. It will be backwards compatible.
