I've been using the R6 for about 8 months now, with a Canon-branded EF lens adapter (the basic one, $99). I generally love that combination and have been saying that with the EF adapter, there is nothing lost compared to the same lens on an EF body. Until now. I think I just found an incompatibility and curious if anyone else has seen this.
This is not a common setup, I know. And it's also not a deal-breaker for me by any stretch.
The lens is my 600mm/4 with IS. I call it a Mk I lens, although there were earlier generations without IS.
The body is an R6.
I attempted to use the focus preset option on lens when attached to the R6. (And yes, I've used that feature on my 5D3 plenty of times and know how to use it.) I finally had a situation to use it today and the lens doesn't even respond when connected to the R6. Just to confirm, I switched to my 5D3 and yes it worked. Back to the R6, even if the switch is in the "beep" position, it doesn't beep either.
I'm curious if the preset function works on an R5. Has anyone tried this?
For those that may not now, and are curious, you can define a preset focus point on the lens itself. Then with a quick flick of the knurled preset ring, the lens will focus to that preset distance.
