I have some house plants that I want to photo some like the orchids below can be moved so I can isolate from the background.
However I also have some very confused Christmas Cactii which are still flowering by a window and if I move them then they stop flowering.
The window does not look great as back ground nor the net curtain - any other ideas. Ideally using something I can find in the house.

A lot of folk take an out of focus shot of some vegetation then print out on A4 and use that.

insufferably pedantic. I can live with that.

Large pieces of fabric, such as sheets, towels, and rugs, can be hung over curtain rods or pinned to curtains to make a plain background. They would also filter out some of the backlighting that dulls out the darker flower detail in your sample orchid photos. For this second purpose, you could instead shoot at night or dusk/dawn/clouds and use artificial light.
