Guys, Zeeland?! That's where my family is from! I was born and raised in Zeeuws-Vlaanderen until the family moved up north. I was thirteen then.

Levina, these photos were take in summer, on our holiday in Zeeland and are regulars there. We bought the special peanutbutter for birds at a gardencentre, and they loved it. I did put my camera on a tripod and used remote control, because they were a bit skittish.
I always buy peanut butter in Winter, hang it up somewhere in a nearby park (I don't have a yard or a balcony). Birds do love it.
Cool.

When a first saw this bird I thought it was a Roodborsttapuit(Stonechat?) because I'd seen that in that area before but this was one I did not see before, although it turns out to be in the same family.
The barbed wire I did not notice before although we've walked past dozens of times, I'll check next time we're there. It's between a footpath and a meadow in one of the new nature reserves in our province(@Lyn2011: it's in Zeeland, those birds I've got(Jay seldom, Woodpecker almost daily) in the garden). Local farmers are allowed to use it as summer pasture(not yet, now there are lots of geese and other birds breeding) for, usually, young dairy cows(14-22 months old). Maybe the barbs are not that close in real life, the photo is from a very small angle along the path so compression plays a role.
Nice to see birds come first for a change. One of the things I find heartbreaking is farmers mowing early before the birds have fledged and desperate parents flying around frantically, crying out as their chicks are being killed. No wonder the number of waders is in steep decline. It's very noticeable and it's sad.
