Thanks Levina, the new pair did keep on checking where the starlings were and as soon as they left.......

The greens are nice but strangely I like some of the ones with buildings as backgrounds too, my front door, a bedroom window, roofs and walls.......

I said "green" didn't I? But anything, as long as it's not a sky, really. And I never mind man-made objects in bird shots anyway.
These Swift shots are really nice, Sid. It must be so great to have these in your backyard. I would shoot them all day long, I think! Great shots.

I don't have a new Mac yet. I did find an app for my iPad that is actually able to convert the R6II's raw files to tif. It preserves the exif, the colour profile, it's 16-bit. It's great. Except it doesn't work. It crashes so much that this too is no solution. However, I did manage a few conversions. It's not raw but tif, so the next best thing I suppose.

I'm very pleased with these shots. I was actually thinking of Sid and his pet Swifts. Because these birds for a change, were not flying high above me, but were literally flying circles around my head. It was extremely hard to focus on them as they were so close and of course flying like it was a contest. I managed only a handful of shots, but happy with those. I have no idea if colours are okay, or sharpness for that matter. But the camera performed very well indeed.

Thanks Levina, you're right, anything other than sky is a definite plus for pretty much any BIF but I do avoid man made stuff as a rule. Rules are there to be broken, I suppose, on the right occasion and this is one such! :)
It's the best thing having them nest here, but now the frantic nest searching is done most of the activity is done for now. There was 8 flying around briefly this evening and I know at least 2 were in nests so at least 10 are here abouts, too dark for photos though.
cheers! :)

Very nice Levina, glad to see you are liking the new camera, other than the RAW bit of it. Colours look OK and they are definitely in focus! Keep it up! :)

Not exactly happy with this, as focus 'off'.

Thanks Patrick :) Even when feeding young they are very irregular, leaving the nest for hours or sometimes even days. Swift chicks are remarkable in that they can slow themselves down to be able to survive for extended periods with no food as their parents sometimes have to follow the good weather to find food, the next regular chances will come when the birds looking for future nest sites and the present birds form the largest screaming parties towards the end of the season.

But at least you see them more often than I do, just saw one yesterday very high in the sky.

It' not just me then, what happened to fast selecting/deleting?

Nice mallard, I think it's a post breeding male going into eclipse, but it may also be a bit of a manky mallard as well.
