It does look like the sparrowhawk is looking beyond the buzzard rather that at it. I've spent thousands of hours at the hide and have had a camera trap there for many many thousands of hours, never seen or recorded a kingfisher there before. How lucky was that to be there for the 3 minutes it did come for. Unbelievable, in fact! Thanks Levina! ![]() Lester Wareham wrote in post #19572688 Sometimes you get lucky. We had a walk over somewhere we often visit and suddenly had dozons of Red Kites zooming around. A bit latter we had several Buzzards doing the same. They were all in a concentrated area trying to get height. The Follow deer were in rut, we could hear the males bellowing in the woodland. It maybe one had died and body attracted the birds. There are places around that have hides, some don't allow dogs, they can be good. pcs wrote in post #19572716 With many hours you make your own luck. Ir's like the expression " the more I practice the luckier I get" . Louis Pasteur said luck favours the prepared. That’s basically the same as what Patrick says here. And it’s absolutely true.
