Wow. Look at all those oystercatchers! I’ve never seen so many together. I take it this was at the pitstop you mentioned before, between Wissenkerke en Colijnsplaat?

No, this is the 'inlagen bij Hoedekenskerke'.

And the numbers are not unusual there, either 'binnendijks' :

or 'buitendijks' (same place just cross the dyke to the Westerschelde):

Hoedekenskerke, that’s all the way on the other side. Amazing numbers.

As I live almost in the middle(10-15 min. from the south of Zuid-Beveland and 20-25 min. from the north of Noord-Beveland) all the way is relative :p

Here is het visdiefje(Common Tern):

Good shots, pcs!
There were large breeding colonies in Waterland each year and all of a sudden there were not. For years now all I see is a lone tern flying by sometimes. No idea where they’ve all gone to. If they still breed there they do so outside the area that I usually cover.

Thanks Pcs and Levina.
We have bad weather here, so a good time to search for more photos.

Maybe they are all here:lol: They are present in large numbers in both places I mentioned. I've even read in the papers they are a pest in Terneuzen, they nest in town and make a lot of noise, not to mention the faeces.

Terneuzen? That’s where my family is from! I was born there. Maybe I should move back, photograph Terns. :-P

That’s a good idea. Unfortunately there is only one cousin I still have contact with and she moved to another part of the country long time ago. :cry:

That's a shame. I can understand the people who live near/under the nests, they can really scream and make a mess:twisted:
