Patrick that's more like ours.
Maybe we have the Dutch variety, not the inferior one's from across the channel :p (I'm sure Ray will understand understand :-) )

Agree they are beautiful birds as is yours here. Lovely photo.

That wine certainly gives excellent results in the processing :p

Only at the weekend!;-)a

Enough of that Richard! - You are trying to wind Raymond up again, are you not? :p :p We are at perfect peace with our avian species from across the channel. Birds were not part of our brexit deal-?. Hey! Hang on - not sure about the frozen supermarket chickens, though!

Ray I've noticed your darlings, er starlings, are much spottier than ours.
Is your photo typical?

Richard, the starlings get their spotty coat from their autumn moult, the spots wear away over winter so by spring they can look quite different. This is a spring one complete with yellow bill and pink feet :)

Thanks Sid. I didn't know that. I'll take more notice of ours.

Ray I'd never wind you up. Just trying to suggest a simple explanation :p

Yeah, okay, bad light, but these are nice! And a very nice find indeed.

By the way, Patrick, not sure if I already said it, but that bird ID app you mentioned works wonders! I shot a Western marsh harrier (Bruine kiekendief) as well as a Meadow pipit (Graspieper), twice, this year! The ID's were 100% sure. So thanks for the tip. Very helpful.

European goldfinches

Lovely scene and composition.:-)

How long did you have to wait and many shots did you have to take to get the one where they were all looking at the camera?;-)a

Cheers

European goldfinches

awesome capture Sid. As others said about the view they present to the camera is very well done.

I'm curious. I assume the palest one is juvenile.
The extreme left - is that moulting? Or a developing junior.
I haven't seen changes in ours during the year, but have seen a couple of juveniles that lobbed up last year and were pale with none of their adult colours.
