When the People's Convoy came to town in April, I happened to be on the scene. I posted a series about it in Urban Life & Travel, starting here: POST 19370195. This YouTube video is a more professional record of the event:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P5Wmh2Hu_24 (external link)

If vulgar language offends you, don't watch. Or mute the sound–but then you'll miss the truckers' horns that irritated so many spectators.

Surprise! I'm briefly visible at 1:33, in the background between an egg-throwing man and another man who's confronting him. Dark hair, glasses, white mask, blue jacket. I missed the confrontation but later photographed the egg thrower together with the videographer who must have shot this part of the video.

I turn up again at about 1:51 and 2:14. Around 2:52 I was taking the shot mentioned above.

Yeah, it brings up a clip on inflation.

Sorry! YouTube kept switching to the video that followed the one I wanted. Corrected, try it now.

Those eggs could have made a lot of omelets.

Every omelet demands the breaking of eggs.

It seemed to be mainly men in the convoy. A tad illogical.

Illogical in what way? If there's a gender imbalance, it may exist because truckers are a large part of the group (see its website (external link)) and apparently are considered central to it. Most truckers in the U.S. are male.

I photographed just a small sample of the vehicles. For one thing, I missed the front of this very long parade by taking time to put in earplugs before going outside. Even so, two of my photos include female convoy-ers. (EDIT: Three, not two. I shot mostly from places facing the passenger seats, where wives/girlfriends were more likely.) The videographer caught mostly men, perhaps because he was positioned next to the drivers' side more of the time and because women might be understandably more reluctant to get out of their vehicles and face a hostile crowd.

I've exercised restraint in commenting, to avoid two things: politics (don't take sides, the event was controversial) and narcissism (don't make it all about me). I would really like to bring up one point, though, for discussion if anyone's interested. It has to do with learning.

My experience in photographing notable events is almost zero, as I'm rarely there when something dramatic happens. This occasion was a fluke. I took about 40 shots, had to decide quickly where to aim as people were moving around and doing different things. The first decision you make each time is what to shoot. I was surprised and gratified that the edited video included an image, basically a still, that just about duplicated one of mine, the broken eggs on that exact same spot on the sidewalk. I thought that this little scene might be useful but didn't know quite what to do with it. Later it seemed a good image to end the series with, for storytelling purposes, because it suggests aftermath.

Isn't it nice when you do something on your own and find that someone who knows what he's doing has made the same choice?

And you both did well. Thank you for sharing your images and the video.
