Help;
Tonight trying to shoot the blood moon. For the second time my 6DMkII would not fire after the moon turn red. I'm shooting in manual from 1/320 -1/200 ISO 100 - 500 f6.3 with my Tamron 28-300 lens with no issues until it went red. I even upped the ISO, slowed the shutter, to no avail. On the screen lower right corner the Q would gray out when i push the shutter button. I'm old school when shooting film in the day manual meant manual and the camera would fire no matter what. Does the 6D Mkii have a too me a stupid fail safe to not fare the shutter, or is there a setting I'm not seeing that if changed would let a camera fire. I had no issues last year shooting Newise Comet, with the exact same setup.

Thanks in advance

Rick

Had same problem on my T7i and 6D. Switched to manual focus and continued on.

If you’re in One Shot AF or AI Focus, I think it requires a focus lock to release the shutter. I believe it will release anytime in AI Servo and MF.

Yes, switch to manual focus and it will fire when you want. (Even if OOF) :-)
