Anyone going to the Airshow this year?
Any tip on setting for canon 1dx mark II for Airshow?

Finally get to used my 1dx Mark II and Canon EF 400mm f/2.8L IS II USM Lens with 2.0 extender.
been in the case for 4 yrs without using it. :lol::lol::lol::lol:

One thing you can do is look at this thread and look at the EXIF settings: POST 18614462

You can get a sense of shutter speeds for propeller planes, where people like to see a blurred propeller, and jets, where the shutter can be set faster.

For propeller movement, I like to use 1/250, f/8 to f/11, and auto ISO, with about +1/3 or +2/3 stop exposure compensation, depending on how “bright” the sky is. I shoot crop so I don’t like to use much smaller aperture than that, but on a sunny day that’s sometimes a bit too much exposure even at the lowest ISO, so I keep a 2-stop ND filter as part of my airshow kit.

I find 1/250 gives just enough propeller movement that you can tell it’s a real plane. A lot of people go slower than that and get great results with a nicer effect, but I need to work on my panning technique before I can do that.
