I put an order in about 10 min after you. It was showing "In Stock", went in the shopping cart, but the order confirmation shows "Backordered".vmad

The place I usually like to deal with has the kits in stock if you don't mind getting the lens as well. It's Unique Photo out of New Jersey. I've ordered almost all my RF bodies and lenses through them.

Thanks for the info but I have the EF-S 18-135mm STM and don't need one.

That's fair, just an option. They don't collect tax so the difference for me wasn't that big actually as Phoenix normally has around a 9.2% rate.

I ordered one just to be sure as I was told the body-only versions were going to be in short supply initially.

I messaged a dealer I have used quite a lot for Pentax stuff and he has run out of the R7 but he did say Canon have pulled the free adapter but they will honour all pre-orders up to yesterday.

He's not a massive stockist of Canon gear so I don't know if this applies to the bigger retailers.

mcoren wrote in post #19395728 (external link)
That’s too bad. That seemed like a nice bonus for folks moving from EF DSLRs.

Yes I would not have bothered without the adaptor.

When ordered I did an email confirm with the supplier that the adaptor was included; as far as I am concerned that is binding.

Pricewatch is showing in stock again and so is the Canon Direct R7 page. But once you put in the shopping cart and view the shopping cart it shows backordered.
I guess Pricewatch just monitors the Canon Direct R7 page for "In Stock" status and doesn't have resources to see if it is actually not on backorder once it's put in the cart. The Canon website scares me with the errors and error messages when trying to order or cancel. I seems that it hasn't been well oiled from the time that it was hacked.

Agreed. I paid € 50 as a deposit for a R7 with adapter. It really should be binding.

Thanks for all of that detailed info!

Question: Why does the file size get larger with higher ISO? Thx.

There is less repetition in the data when there is more noise, so high ISOs don't compress as well.

Oh they know...IMHO...they want you to buy whether its in stock or not so they get their fee.

Still the question remains. Why the AF is "impossible" in the bright day light?

The phase-detect AF of the mirrorless cameras doesn't see OOF contrast with as much depth as DSLR AF points under the mirror at staggered depths. The mirrorless sensor has shallower focus depth with the same lens, when the lens is wide open.

The R7 offers the possibility of stopping down during live view and AF, but this is probably only useful if you want your exposures stopped down, too.

Yup, Canon's sight is a bit messed up. This morning I tried to do a repair ticket for my RF 14-35L. It took 16 tries to get past "I'm not a robot" and then when I hit submit it gave an "Oops something went wrong" message. The third time wasn't a charm either.

Sharing a screen grabbed image from my iPad that was at ISO3200. Unadjusted. For those who are wondering about the capability of the camera to deal with the noise. Note I had to downsize it to be uploaded here.

Yeah, I got excited when I saw this at the Canon USA store...

But when in your shopping cart it says backordered. Wow, what a disappointment!

However, the R7/lens kit shows in stock all the way up to the point where credit card info is entered.
Maybe they do have the kit in stock.

Hmmm...this is interesting. I just checked Canon USA site again. Don't see the R7/lens kit listed. Looks like it has been removed.

Weird, I can see it and it lists it in stock:
