Quite true, but I have always used the Quick Control Dial to control it's default Aperture control, from my initial ELAN-7 through 10 DSLRS, and my current R5, so I guess it's ISO on the Lens Control dial for me.

On my R5 , I shoot in manual with auto ISO 99% of the time. I use the control ring to adjust exposure comp., and it has worked well for me. Most likely that is how I will shoot the R7. So I will leave the Quick Control dial for aperture also. But it is available for ISO if one would want.

Levina , is strange but I can feel it faster than my 5dmkiv, the compensation wheel is better than the series 1, the handling is fast and I only have it for one day, I hope you will think the same. All these opinions, without actually holding them in your hand, are just an illusion

The problem may not be when you are using R7 as your only camera.
The issue is when you have two bodies. Say and R5 and R7.
This is where the brain will fart at times when you switch the bodies.

Just got back from Hunts Photo, their Providence location. I rented an R7 Thursday for pickup tomorrow but asked them if I could get it today, they said yes.

(stuff clipped)

first impression, the body is smaller than my 90D, I cannot get 3 fingers on the grip, the pinky hangs below. Also looking inside the battery compartment there are no contacts for a battery grip.

Back when I was going from the 7D2 to a yet to be named camera, I was impressed by the 90D. The size was great. The 7D2 was a little on the large side but still great as well. I joked a few weeks ago that the R7 should have really been called the R8 based on what it offers vs Canon's naming scheme but if it's that much smaller than the 90D maybe it should be the R777 or even the Rebel-R! :-P

I don't know if this has been mentioned already but I took a look in the battery compartment and there are no contacts for a battery grip.

Also I will be looking at the noise in high ISO, there is noise but it is less than the 90D so far, the 90D over 1600 it was bad.

Cropping severely without clean files is problematic

The whole button layout looks weird to me. Its going to take some getting used to. Not sure why Canon chose this alien layout.

I agree it is an odd departure for Canon, from DSLR and by the sound of it from other R bodies.

Is this an experiment or a change for future bodies? (Rhetorical).

I suspect it is forced by the adoption of the camera size and fitting the inards in.

I expect we will get used to it.

I think shooting multiple bodies might be an issue.

I know going between my current set of 7D, 7DII and 6D can cause me some confusion, the differences between those are minor compared to the R7.

this is just a screenshot, such birds are not a challenge in the case of the R7.although they run 120km / h

Because the R7 functionally is positioned to be closer to the 'amateur oriented' 90D and T8i, than it is to the 'prosumer' 7DII ?!

I don't think so Wilt, it is more than that. The 6D and 7DIi are closer in controls than the 6D and R7.

How much of an issue this is depends on the user and time.

Perhaps they are trying something new to see how it goes over? They did the same with that slide bar that turned out to be not generally acceptable to the masses on the R, so it never saw the light of day again. This could be one of those things that they put back as well, if people generally don't like it.

I don't get the whole concept of both the controls placement AND the inability to add a grip at all to do portrait shooting. It is as if they both tried to save money while also prevent portrait shooting, by not having any grip contacts inside the battery compartment and moving the controls out of the way even if you could add a grip.

I had this happen on my order for the EF to RF adaptor. In my experience if you did not get confirmation you don't have a valid order. Which I didn't discover until after the day I should have received it (I paid extra for quick shipping so I knew one it should have arrived). I was pissed since I had my R6 body but no way to put a lens on it.

Give them a call to sort this out now.

I called Canon USA. The rep was helpful and canceled my order. She has no idea when the R7 will be available.

On further checking the R7 Manual, it appears that there is an ISO button on the top/right that when pushed allows ISO adjustment via the QC Dial. (Pg. 176)

Good find! Do you have to continue holding it, or just 1 time, then use dial?

Just one time. Then the ISO scale pops up in the EVF and you turn the dial to the desired value. When you half-press the shutter button it is gone and ISO is set at the value you chose (or auto, if you chose auto).
