Question for those who have or have had the EF100-400mm v2 and the RF100-500mm.

My EF lens works well with the R7 body. Just as good as on the 90D. If I would purchase the RF100-500mm, I would assume image quality would be as good or maybe better than my EF lens. My question is, would the native combo give me better IS?

When at airshow with prop aircraft and helos your SS is usually between 1/60 & 320. I am no longer able to pan and have the majority of pics in focus at 400mm and with the t/c it only gets worse. I have resorted to a gimbal/tripod. But that just stinks.

Jets are no problem at this time.;-)a

I haven't shot many planes yet with the 100-500, but I haven't seen a big increase in keepers at slow speeds. Still frustrating. The weight does seem to be concentrated a little closer to the camera which might help with smoother panning.

No idea about the states but in the UK each user with the same supplier keeps getting different stories.

Locally here in Rhode Island, Hunt's just got another shipment on Tuesday July 5th.

Lots of uncertainty around this. My pre-order through Amazon had a date of 7/7, then on the 6th it got pushed to the 18th, and on the 8th it shipped next day air.. Unfortunately I missed the delivery as we were gone most of the day and it needed a signature. Now I wait until Monday to retrieve it from a local UPS waypoint facility.

Best Buy seems to have kits in stock (California)- local pickup on Saturday (16th).

I am stuck with a local store as i have credit from previous trade-in (and also not interested in the kit lens)

I found the kit lens is better than the 18-135 stm so didn't mind getting it

Sure enough, the kit shows on bestbuy.com. Available in three days.

I've been watching that, wondering when they would become available for general retail. A few days ago it wasn't available. I'll get one once they're available at Crutchfield.

Same for me in Mt. Vernon NY store. I ordered it. Really don’t want the kit lens and paid tax as opposed to my B&H Payboo purchase. But I’m too impatient lol. I do get a $90 in rewards. Let see if it indeed arrives this Saturday.

interesting in Massachusetts we have to pay sales tax on all purchases from anywhere in the world so we pay tax on B&H purchases

Payboo basically credits you for the amount of the tax.

Yes, it is a unique way to maintain the advantage. You get a BHP credit card. They charge you tax, they pay the tax to your state as required. And you get an instant "reward" equal to the tax.

It lets them keep the business, resolves the tax issue and skirts the MAP issue as well.

No idea what interest rate they charge on card, I don't carry a balance.
