Some time ago lots of folks were complaining that there were no R7 bodies available, just kits with the 18-150mm lens. The implication was that the kit lens was not wanted. So, I expected to see some RF 18-150mm lenses in the For Sale section. But there aren't any - not even one Maybe the buyers are finding the kit lens to be more useful than they thought.

I sold my kit lens to MPB for $315. I can't imagine a private party sale getting any more for it.

Its probably a great holiday walk around lens, i would not tend to use APS-C for that.

I have the 18-135 STM I got with the 80D or 90D can't remember which. It is quite a bit heavier than the 18-150. as a walkabout lens along with the R7 it is a very light weight kit.

I will see what MPB will give for it...

here are the 135 1st then the 150

I've been watching the stock at Crutchfield (local to me) and the different camera stock levels constantly change. They must be getting small allocations that barely meet demand. R3 was out, now it's back but the R and R6 kits are out. R5 and R6 L zoom kits are low.

R10 and R7 bodies are out. I think the R7 body being out of stock is the only constant in this. :(

I grew tired of waiting for the R7 body (ordered from B&H on release day), and when they offered to send me the kit ASAP, for $400 more of course .... I decided to take that offer. I'm 70 years old, and as the old saying goes " I don't buy green bananas anymore".
Time is precious, and I want the camera. It should be here on Thursday ! :-D

wise choice, I am 69 and I rented an R7 the first week they were out and when I rented it they had one R7 kit. My salesman suggested I buy it and not open it, if I liked it I could keep it or otherwise return it. I loved it. I am now up to 12,000 clicks

It is so small that my wife might actually use it. My other camera/lens combos have been too heavy for her. She actually held this one for a while. That may have been a mistake!

FYI, the Military Aviation Museum is having one on October 1st & 2nd. Warbirds Over the Beach is not to be missed. I go every year and it's a 9 hour drive for me.

Jim, I was really looking forward to this and planning to go based on your recommendation. But I just saw on their web site that it's been cancelled. Maybe next year!

Here in VA, there's still JB Andrews (MD) and NAS Oceana, both on the weekend of September 17-18, and Culpeper Air Fest on October 8. There's also the Leesburg air show on September 24, which is a pretty small show, but I go every year because it's close to my house so I can bike there, and I figure it's photo practice. They usually have a CAF Avenger there.

So with the news that Canon is shutting down any 3rd party manufacturer for RF mounts, one can still get the .71 speedbooster from Vitrox through Ebay. I picked one up because I suspect that these will become ever more difficult to find long-term, certainly not at the current prices.

I already have the Viltrox booster for my M mount, and it works very well, so I hope this works just as well for EF lenses on the RF APS-C bodies like it does on my M50. :)

MBP will buy your new kit lens for $325 or so, so if you really want a body-only you can buy the kit and unload the lens and only spend about $75 more.

Metabones still has their Speedbooster listed.

The Viltrox is less than half the price though, so while you can get the Viltrox, that seems like a better choice for a speedbooster. Metabones will be hit too, at some point. Tamron and others have basically stated they aren't going to make RF (AF) lenses.

I just picked up the Viltrox 85 RF lens as well. I love my Sigma 135 1.8 currently on the R series, but an 85 1.8 does provide some additional flexibility. I loved my old 85L, so this will be a nice addition. I see a lack of 3rd party RF products for at least 5 years out at this point, if not longer, if Canon continues to pursue this. :( Just means people will keep buying EF mount lenses, Canon and 3rd party and use adapters.

Yes I bought the kit that way I could get the camera, I am still on this list for body only at Hunts since May. I am now about to go over 20K shots with it.

I have the 18-135 that I use on my 90D, I could use it on the R7 with the adapter but a big difference between the 18-135 and 18-150 is the weight! The lens does a good job, is it an L lens? No but it is decent.

The R7 with the 18-150 becomes a very light camera that you can carry all day. For someone with a walker the weight becomes important.

Maybe it is just me but I find the 18-150 to be a good lens. Is it L quality, no but it works and is easy to carry. The sky on the chapel is blah but it was raining that morning when we went to visit our late son, and the sun was behind it (behind the clouds).

I'm still on the fence, when it comes to the kit lens. Reasons will possibly arise for its use, but for me, those uses will be very seldom.

To me it was the difference between having the camera and just reading about it. I love the camera and am happy I got it when I could. As I said Hunts still hasn't had a single body only at this time.
