So many heads with hair that's gray or missing. Are Follett's fans elderly in general? Maybe they were bused in from a senior center for this speech?

I just finished this Ken Follett novel…great read. I have discovered that our local library has thousands of Kindle compatible books including many by Follett :-). I always check the library first before buying a digital download.

BTW I have lots of gray hair and lots of years to justify it! :p

Follett can be rather long winded in his writings.

Follett's "The Pillars of the Earth" is a mere 992 pages...and it is the first book of a trilogy. The other two books are over 900 pages each.

Perhaps being either bald and or grey is proof one has read them. :p

Hornet Flight is one of the reasons Follett is so popular in Denmark - it's a retelling of a real escape, one of his earlier works.

I agree that his writing can be a bit clunky and long winded - but the stories are excellent !

As to all the grey and missing hairs, good observation, seems to be a feature of most literary talks here, the kids have something else to do! Athough our library does have an amazing section for the young too.

Talking of libraries, we get free access to Libby ( part of OverDrive ) through our library card here - and it’s always worth checking it before buying a digital book. It even has several Folletts! Is that what you use, Jim ?

Follett is one of my fav authors. Long or not they are good reads. Haven't read this one, need to search it out at our local library.

Nic, I use OverDrive linked to our County library system. It is awesome. I can request popular books and get an email when they are available for downloading. I can also request that they add books I want to read not in the system and the library will notify if they purchase them for their collection. :-)

That’s even better than ours - haven’t seen any way to request a book!
